Charles P. Darby IV

Continuing the legacy of his late grandfather, Charles P. Darby Jr., M.D., Charles P. Darby IV has been a long-time member of the Children’s Hospital Fund advisory board and currently serves as the board’s nominations committee chairman.

“My grandfather placed great importance on giving more than you take,” Charles said. “Growing up around the MUSC children's hospital, I accompanied my grandparents to many of the hospital fundraising events. I naturally gravitated toward the board to follow his vision. It was an added bonus that the board afforded us more time together.”

Charles believes that the board is an important link between the hospital and the community. By serving on the board, he feels that members can raise awareness and organize fundraising events with the goal of ensuring the best possible care for sick children.

Charles claims two favorite fundraising opportunities benefiting MUSC Children’s Health; first, the annual Bull’s Bay Golf Tournament. He says he’s always impressed by the teamwork and success of the event. Under Charles’s leadership, this event now brings in more than $1 million a year. Charles also enjoys getting into the holiday spirit at the annual Reindeer Run, which his family races every year as a Christmas tradition.

We are thankful for the pioneering work of Dr. Charles P. Darby Jr., M.D., and the continued, unwavering support of those who carry on his legacy!
