We are excited to welcome Ann E. Rice Ervin and Tucker Ervin to the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital Fund Advisory Board! As new members, they bring a shared passion for supporting the hospital and its mission to provide the highest quality care for children and families across the Lowcountry.

Inspiration

For Ann E, becoming a parent shifted her perspective on the Children's Hospital.

"I always thought of it as a benefit to have it here,” she said. “But when Beckett was born, I began to see it as a gift — something that everyone needs to know is there when they need it.”

Tucker’s inspiration was also driven by the hospital’s life-changing impact on its patients.

“The opportunity to contribute to a children’s hospital that is changing lives and offering advanced care in times of need is what drew me in,” he said.

A family legacy of support

Both Ann E. and Tucker are stepping into a role that was deeply meaningful to Ann E.’s parents, Joe and Lisa Rice, who are long-time supporters of the hospital. Together, they aim to continue the legacy of ensuring that children and their families have access to the care they need when they need it most.

Ann E. and Tucker are eager to witness firsthand the new advances in pediatric medicine and to help MUSC maintain its role as a prominent player in the field.

"We want to support the hospital in keeping up with these innovations and ensuring it remains a leader in pediatric care," Ann E. explained.

They are particularly excited to focus on raising awareness about the hospital’s programs, helping families understand the exceptional care available to them, and ensuring that financial concerns are not a barrier to access.

A Vision for the Future

One of the initiatives they are most passionate about is improving awareness and access.

“We want people to know that amazing care is close by — whether it’s a simple treatment or groundbreaking procedure — and that the focus should be on getting the care they need, not on the cost,” Tucker said.

Together, Ann E. and Tucker are committed to ensuring that the hospital continues to provide advanced, excellent health care for children, and remains a leading resource in pediatric medicine. Their vision for the advisory board includes supporting these efforts through awareness, fundraising and attracting top-tier talent to build a world-class team of health care professionals.

Event Favorites

When asked about their favorite events, it comes as no surprise that Ann E shared her excitement for the Bulls Bay Golf Tournament, which she finds to be a wonderful opportunity for people to come together in a relaxed, yet meaningful setting.

Tucker also looks forward to the tournament and is excited to become more involved in other hospital fund events.

“We’re excited to participate in more family-focused events, especially those that we can enjoy with Beckett,” Ann E added.

Ann E and Tucker are enthusiastic about their new roles on the Advisory Board and look forward to contributing to the continued success and growth of MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital.

We are thrilled to have them on board and can't wait to see the positive impact they will make!
