The mission of our clinic is to provide an evidence-based, comprehensive, and caring clinical and educational environment for our patients and families that will ultimately lead to better clinical outcomes, improved quality of life, happier families, and a more informed community.

It is estimated that as many as 30% of children and adolescents will at some time suffer from emotional and/or behavioral disturbances. Many emotional and behavioral disorders (Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, ODD to name a few) can be evaluated and treated in the context of a primary care setting. It is always advised to discuss emotional and behavioral concerns with your primary care provider before seeking out psychiatric care. Due to the high demand for psychiatric services, delays in intake appointments can be very lengthy.

In the case that this is an emergency, and your child or teenager is posing a direct threat of harm to themselves or others, please go your nearest emergency room for evaluation. MUSC offers Pediatric ED services (link) that can help in times of crisis.

Family Therapy

Family Therapy is the cornerstone to mental health treatment in children (and sometimes teenagers). We have skilled providers offering family therapy services to provide care to families that allow them to assess their weaknesses, find their strengths, and learn how to live more full and productive lives in the context of their familial relationships. We provide these services on the belief that any individual suffering from an emotional and/or behavioral disturbance are embedded in a family whose relationships cannot be separated from their sense of self. In many cases improvement cannot be made without these important relationships being nurtured and cultivated.

Family Therapy is offered to those families whose members (or as a whole) are struggling with a wide variety of issues including behavioral disturbances, depression, anxiety, or other mental illness. Our providers have expertise in (but are not limited to):

  • Behavioral Management

Family Therapy in the clinic is also accompanied with Medication Management services if and when appropriate. To Schedule an Appointment Please Call: 843-792-0135
