Our Team


Janice Key, MD

Dr. Key is a Professor of Pediatrics, Division Director of Adolescent Medicine, and the Boeing Center for Children's Wellness' Director of School and Community-based Programs at The Medical University of South Carolina. She received her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed her residency training at Boston Children's Hospital. She is board certified in pediatrics and adolescent medicine. Dr. Key joined the faculty at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1991 when she founded the program in adolescent medicine in the Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Key has served on local and national committees including the Executive Committee for the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Adolescent Health, the Charleston County Medical Society School Health Committee and Executive Committee. She was a founding member of the Charleston County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition. She has received the MUSC Distinguished Service Faculty Award, the Charleston County Medical Society Wannamaker Community Service Award, the SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy Vincent Outstanding Professional Award, and several teaching awards. She has been included in Best Doctors in America since 1998 and in the 2008 Guide to America’s Top Pediatricians.

Sarah Piwinski, MPA

Sarah Piwinski is the Assistant Director of the Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness. She has a bachelor’s degree in marine biology and a master’s degree in public administration, both from the College of Charleston. Piwinski has held numerous positions working with community-based education initiatives and most recently served as the Director of Data Management and Analysis for Tri-County Cradle to Career Collaborative. As a mother herself, she is passionate about advocating for innovative school-based wellness initiatives.
