Adult Congenital Heart Disease

Today, more than 95 percent of all children born with congenital heart disease will survive to adulthood. They have pediatric-like heart disease but face the usual issues of adult life, including education, jobs and family. Their issues often require the expertise of specialists who understand both the complex nature of their heart condition and the medical and social issues faced by young adults. To address these needs, the MUSC Children’s Health Heart Center has developed a program with a team of adult and pediatric cardiac specialists who can provide both perspectives. This multidisciplinary approach has proven to be the best way to care for this complex group of patients.

The Adult Congenital Heart Care Team Includes:

  • Adult and pediatric cardiologists
  • Adult and pediatric interventionalists
  • Advanced cardiac imaging
  • Congenital cardiac surgeons
  • Echocardiograms
  • Electrophysiologists
  • Nurse practitioners
