Our Expertise

MUSC has a comprehensive outpatient cardiology program to provide coordinated care for infants, children, and adults requiring screening for acquired or congenital cardiac disease, management of complex cardiac-related conditions, and on-going care for individuals with congenital heart disease.

We provide outpatient cardiology care in a number of convenient locations throughout the state including North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Murrells Inlet, and Okatie. Our clinics are staffed by highly trained and specialized cardiologists, nurse practitioners, specialized nurses, patient care technicians, and echo sonographers. We offer a wide variety of non-invasive cardiac diagnostic testing in our clinics including electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, holter and event monitoring, exercise-stress testing, and advanced cardiac imaging.

MUSC's heart center has a specialized team to provide compassionate and innovative outpatient care for a large number of conditions including:

• Congenital heart disease (to include: ventricular septal defect, atrial septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of the great arteries, single ventricle heart disease, bicuspid aortic valve)

• Evaluation of murmurs
• Aortic dilation related to connective tissue disorders
• Kawasaki disease
• Follow up after multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C)

Sub-specialty Clinics

In addition to excellent primary cardiology care, the MUSC Children's Health Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center also offers sub-specialty clinics to provide comprehensive care for complex conditions requiring multiple specialists all in one location. These clinics take place at the R. Keith Summey Medical Pavilion in North Charleston and include specialized care for the following conditions:
